The immobilizer is your vehicle's electronic anti-theft system. It consists of three components: the transponder in your key, the antenna coil around the ignition or on the dashboard, and the immobilizer control module (often integrated into the ECU). These three components must agree before the engine starts.
When the immobilizer detects a problem - wrong key, no transponder signal, or corrupted data - it blocks engine start. The dashboard may display a key symbol, flashing security light, or "immobilizer" warning message.
Key not recognized after battery replacement (fob lost sync). Immobilizer warning light on dash. Engine cranks but won't start after electrical work. Spare key stops working. These issues require reprogramming, not key replacement.
Treasure Coast Locksmith diagnoses and resolves immobilizer issues across Port St Lucie. We determine whether the problem is the key, the antenna, or the immobilizer module, then address the root cause. Most immobilizer issues are resolved through reprogramming without replacing any hardware.
